The Barn started out hosting our family with four children sleeping up in the mezzanine loft. Many years later after the children grew up, we thought we would reward it with a renovation. It is now fully self contained with kitchen, dining and lounge areas and a new large bathroom. The bath and the front veranday overlook the dam as does the upstairs covered deck. The open plan ensures the cosiest of holidays for families and friends that want to spend time together. There is however a number of private spaces* around the property where one can retreat and seek some tranquility.
There is a queen-sized bed off the lounge area that has french doors opening onto a north-facing verandah. The corner of the lounge area currently has a single bed but at a pinch, another can be added. The other queen-sized bed is upstairs on the mezzanine. That upstairs area also hosts a couch and adjoins a small empty room earmarked for a future dressing room. Some guests plan to use it for infants. There is a door that opens onto a small outside deck under the gable roof and with a view of the dam and small boathouse below.
Perhaps the most popular aspect of the barn is sitting on the solid jarrah outdoor setting looking over the dam in the late afternoon. Many return from their day visiting wineries to sample their purchases and watch the sun set over the western end of the valley's trees. On hot afternoons, some have been know to take a dip!
